Guide to choosing the ideal UPS
First, we need to answer a question: what is a UPS, or Uninterruptible Power Supply? A UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply ) is a device that provides electrical power to the device it's connected to, interposing itself between the electrical grid and the device itself. In the event of a power outage or voltage fluctuations, the UPS kicks in and keeps the connected device (PC, printer, modem, etc.) powered.
Powershield offers two families of Tecnoware UPS: Era Plus And Exa Plus . In both cases, these are reliable solutions for protecting electronic devices from blackouts and power line disturbances. However, there are some significant differences between them, making each family better suited to specific types of equipment and needs.

🧩 Era Plus family (from 600VA to 2600VA):
- Technology : Line Interactive with pseudo-sine waveform.
- Operation : Stabilizes voltage in the presence of electric current and provides power during a blackout with a pseudo-sinusoidal waveform.
- Recommended applications : This model is particularly suitable for devices such as everyday computers , DVRs/NVRs , ADSL/fiber modems , switches/routers and cash registers . It is not suitable for computers with professional graphics cards , PCs with active PFC or Mac devices, as the latter require pure sine wave protection to handle high loads. This model , in fact, is designed for devices that do not require a large power draw and that do not require advanced protection such as that required by gaming systems or professional applications.
- Advantages : Provides effective protection against voltage sags or swells, typically sufficient for less sensitive equipment.
🧩 Exa Plus family (from 1000VA to 4500VA):
- Technology : Line Interactive with pure sine waveform.
- Operation : Like other models, it protects against power surges and provides power during a blackout, but in this case the power supply is in the form of a pure sine wave, which makes it more suitable for more sensitive devices.
- Recommended Applications : Ideal for devices with active PFC power supplies , which optimizes energy efficiency, gaming PCs , Macs , game consoles such as PS5 , PS4 Pro , Xbox Series X and computers with high-performance professional graphics cards.
- Advantages : The pure sine waveform offers superior power quality, ideal for high-performance and sensitive devices , ensuring quiet and stable operation even under critical conditions. It is particularly suitable for environments where maximum stability and silent operation are required.
⚙️ Main differences:
- Waveform : Era Plus delivers power with a pseudo-sine waveform , suitable for less sensitive devices, while Exa Plus offers a pure sine waveform , perfect for more delicate equipment like gaming PCs and servers.
- Supported Devices : The Era Plus is suitable for standard devices, while the Exa Plus is optimized for devices with active PFC. The Exa Plus offers superior protection thanks to its pure sine waveform.
The choice between these models depends on the type of devices to be protected and the sensitivity of the power supply required : Era Plus for basic needs and Exa Plus for devices with active PFC , sensitive and high-performance equipment such as gaming PCs .
